Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phx 10/24 – 10/30

 

 

We’re approaching the end of October, which means that the weather is only getting nicer and nicer as the days go by. With the cooler weather, it seems that there are even more awesome events popping up all around the Valley – both indoor and outdoor. Check out this week’s offerings to see what you might want to check out!

Wednesday, October 24

–       Driftwood Coffee over in the West Valley is hosting a night of spoken word poetry, starting at 7 pm. The free event features 8 different performers, so grab a drink and enjoy!

–       Phoenix Punkgrass Band the Haymarket Squares are going to be playing starting at 9 pm over at the Lost Leaf Bar. The free show is sure to be a great time, and you can enjoy some new beers on tap including a Wasatch Pumpkin Ale. Yum!

Thursday, October 25

–       Head over to Helton Brewing Company for a Pumpkin Carving Party. $15 gets you a pumpkin to carve and a pint of beer. Starts at 5 pm, tickets here.

–       Who doesn’t love chocolate? Enjoy free samplings surrounded by beautiful art displays over at the MonOrchid Gallery for the Chocolate and Art Show starting at 8 pm. There will also be live music! Entry is $15.

Friday, October 26

Photo Cred: Phoenix New Times

–       Stranger Things enthusiasts should head over to the Crescent Ballroom for their 80’s Halloween party! The night will be a celebration of the show, as the ballroom turns into the ultimate tribute. There will be a photobooth and awesome 80’s beats mixing all night. Costumes highly encouraged. Tickets are between $12-15. Starts at 9 pm.

–       As a part of the All Things Comedy festival taking place from the 25-28th of the month, there will be a free outdoor block party over in CityScape! From 3 pm-12 am, the party will feature music, contests, games, and drinks and food for purchase! RSVP here.

Saturday, October 27

–       Head over to Coronado Park in Phoenix for Wayne Fest – a micro-music festival. It’s a rock show celebrating Coronado’s musical past and introduction to present music as well. There will be five local bands playing, free food samples, beer and wine available for purchase, and much more. Tickets are $20 and include a commemorative cup!

–       Salt River Fields will be hosting a “Spooktacular” balloon festival from 5-9:30 pm. There will be over 20 hot air balloons on display, live music, food and drinks, fireworks, and much more. General admission tickets are $15.

Sunday, October 28

–       You can still snag some tickets to a ghost tour over in downtown Phoenix! The Orpheum Theatre is hosting flashlight tours of the theater, all while sharing stories of ghosts that haunt the theater. Visitors get to explore places normally off limits to the public. Tickets are $45, and tours (starting at multiple times) are 2 hours long.  

–       Cat lovers can head over to the Phoenix Animal Behavior Center for a pop-up cat café! Whether you want to adopt a cat or just play with some adorable kittens, you can spend an hour or two playing with adoptable kittens. There are numerous time slots available, and it’s $10 an hour of playtime. Reserve your spot here.

Monday, October 29

–       Head over to the first-ever pumpkin patch at Desert Ridge Marketplace. The pumpkin patch will be set up on the AMC lawn. Pick a pumpkin, enjoy cider, and enjoy the photo opportunities. Open from 4-8 pm.

–       FilmBar will be hosting a special showing of the movie Halloween, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. The classic slasher film is sure to put you in the spirit for the season. Showing is at 9:30 pm, tickets are $9.95.

Tuesday, October 30

–       Test your knowledge with a night of cinema and culture related trivia over at Valley Bar. The free night of trivia begins at 8 pm (sign up at 7 pm) and will feature tons of prizes up for grabs.

–       Beer aficionados should consider getting tickets to the “T.Cook’s Local Beer Tasting” over at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa. There will be samplings of six local beers, and a menu of small plates to compliment them. The event runs from 5-7 pm and tickets are $53.10.
