Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phx 6/27 – 7/3

 

 

Another week of hot temperatures is upon us. But Phoenix is not disappointing when it comes to things to do. There are still tons of awesome events to check out, from performances that will move you to poolside parties to help you keep cool. While the weather may have us wanting to stay inside, having a community that is constantly moving helps a lot – so get out there and have some fun!

Wednesday, June 27

 Catch a powerful performance at Last Exit Live by Fantastic Negrito – a man’s truth told in the form of black roots music. Each song is a true story, all with powerful messages that will resonate with you. Tickets are $13, show starts at 7 pm.

– Join a “big gay sing-a-long” featuring the movie the Greatest Showman at Filmbar. Costumes encourage, raffle and wine specials, and a portion of proceeds benefit an LGBT charity. Tickets are $14, and while the 7:30 pm show is sold out, there’s a 10 pm showing you can catch.

Thursday, June 28

– Join barre3 for a free barre workout in celebration of their new studio opening in the East Valley. The celebration takes place from 6-8pm, with the class running from 6:30-7:30 pm. Bring a yoga mat and any friends you want!

 Enjoy a night of Jazz that showcases covers of classics with a twist. Support the local Phoenix Jazz Community for just $5, show starts at 7:30.

Friday, June 29

– Lustre Rooftop Bar is hosting six days of pool parties in preparation for the fourth of July, and this Friday is the start. Beginning at 11 am, enjoy cocktail specials and an exclusive Fourth of July menu. No cover.

– Get down at Crescent Ballroom for their 90s R&B and Hip-Hop Dance Party! DJs will be spinning all of the classics at this party that starts at 10 pm. Tickets are $3 in advance, $5 at the door.

Saturday, June 30

– Get your taste of Spanish Culture with a free performance by Flamenco Por La Vida. Dramatic dance poses combined with Spanish music is something that will transport the audience to Spain. Starts at 6 pm.

– Are you a showtunes junkie? Enjoy a night of music and comedy clips that will have you singing along from 6pm-9pm at Kolbat Bar. No cover.

Sunday, July 1

– Hang out by the pool for one of Maya Day and Nightclub’s summertime pool parties featuring DJ Party Favor. Tickets are just $10, doors open at 12 pm.

– Enjoy a live electronic music show at the Lost Leaf, with musical guests creating music on the spot before your eyes. No cover starts at 8 pm.

Monday, July 2

– The coloring is extremely relaxing, no matter what age you are. Take a break from your busy schedule and hang out at South Mountain Community Library for a “Color to Calm” event to help reduce stress. The event runs all day, from 7:30am-9pm and all you need to do is check out some colored pencils and grab a coloring sheet.

– Participate in the weeklong celebration of “Independents Week” – a celebration of local businesses that let you save money and support #shoplocal. Get your coupon for 20% off at hundreds of participating businesses here!

Tuesday, July 3

– Not only does Sorso Wine Room have ½ off select wine bottles all day, but they have a killer happy hour from 3-6pm AND live music starting at 5:30 and running till 8:30 pm. It’s a great place to spend your Tuesday.

– Maybe you want to celebrate the 4th of July a day earlier – there’s no better place than Lake Pleasant to do it at. Starting at 5 pm there will be a celebration with a live band and food trucks galore. Fireworks begin at 9 pm. Cost is $15 per vehicle, including general parking and admission for everyone in the car. Buy tickets here!
