Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phx 7/25 – 7/31

Ready to win your week by filling your next 7 days with as much fun as possible??

The month of July is wrapping up, but that doesn’t mean there is any shortage of events going on in the Valley. The temperatures are maintaining their terribly hot status, but Phoenix answers with a ton of cool things to do that will (mostly) keep you out of the heat.

Wednesday, July 25

– The Phoenix Art Museum is showing Oscar Nominated documentary, “Finding Vivian Maier,” starting at 6 pm for just $5. The documentary follows a nanny who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers. Sounds pretty cool.

– Valley Bar is hosting a blind wine tasting for $15 (there is a 6 pm and 7:30 pm option available) where you can test your palate on a selection of wines and champagnes. It’s always fun to see if you can tell the difference between the inexpensive and the pricey.

– Catch an analog all-cassette DJ set at Valley Bar (maybe after your wine-tasting fun?) starting at 9 pm. Old school and modern cuts will be mixed by DJ Petty Things, and the event is free.

Thursday, July 26

Test your dodgeball skills with an open gym night hosted by yours truly (Phx Fray). All skill levels welcome – play the game along with some music and have fun for just $5.

– Foodies will love the chance to attend the Summerfest Beer Dinner presented by Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen from 6:30-8: 30 pm. The $45.00 gets you a great five-course meal with beer pairings alongside.

Friday, July 27

– The Nash presents “A Night in Havana” featuring Josiel Perez’s All-Star jazz band. Perez was born in Cuba and has performed among many top-level musicians. Enjoy his music for $20 ($10 for students with ID), from 7:30-10pm.

Cocktails, beer, and snacks available for purchase. Only $10 admission for the night, which starts at 6 pm. The first laser show is at 8 pm.

Saturday, July 28

The Cuervo Tradicional Taco Takeover and Cocktail Competition is coming to town! There are two sessions (3pm-6pm and 7pm-10pm) that feature at least 10 cocktail tastings and 10 tacos (or Latin-inspired dish) tastings. Featuring live music and games, it’s bound to be a great day. General admission tickets starting at $49.00.

Sunday, July 29
