Radar: To Do in PHX 10.20-23
We’re here to ease you into a weekend that is mostly creepy, deal with it! Maybe you want to turn your pumpkin into a carriage or get free candy at the last mall in the world (we assume). Perhaps an evening with Baltimore’s most talented, shockingly gross son will bring you joy. Choose from getting scared at a farm or a hotel. Whatever your tastes are, feel certain that Phoenix is your place for active living. Note: Some descriptions courtesy of event hosts and edited for clarity.

National Theatre Live: Frankenstein at Phoenix Art Museum
Directed by Academy Award®-winner Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire), Frankenstein features Benedict Cumberbatch (Hamlet, BBC’s Sherlock) and Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary, Trainspotting) alternating between the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil, are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic tale. Tix start at $20; 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; 1625 North Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ; phxart.org/ // @phxart
“The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” with Tetra String Quartet at Orpheum Theatre
Billed as “The Strangest Film in the World,” “The Cabinet of Dr Caligari” tells the story of two friends, Francis (Friedrich Feher) and Alan (Rudolf Lettinger), who encounter the Dr. Caligari (Werner Krauss) while at a carnival. The men see Caligari showing off his somnambulist, Cesare (Conrad Veidt), a hypnotized man who the doctor claims can see into the future. Shockingly, Cesare then predicts Alan’s death, and by morning his chilling prophecy has come true — making Cesare the prime suspect. But is Cesare guilty, or is the doctor controlling him? $16; 3 p.m.; 203 W Adams St., Phoenix, AZ; phoenixconventioncenter.com // @phoenixconvctr
