9.9 – 9.25
“Little Shop of Horrors” at the Fountain Hills Theater
The Fountain Hills Theater just east of Downtown Phoenix hosts a production of the well-loved musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors” for a good stretch of time this month. The show is a hilarious, over-the-top tribute to the sights ands sounds of the early 1960s, full of original songs informed by the Motown and doo-wop scenes happening at the time. Adapted from a schlocky, low budget 1960 sci-fi film, the musical is a campy nostalgia trip for the whole family.

Latin Laughs 8 with Rich Rivera at Stir Crazy Comedy
Located on the second floor of Salt Tacos y Tequila, Stir Crazy Comedy Club is an intimate cabaret style theater with all the hallmarks of a comedy fan’s comedy club: no drink minimums, affordable tickets, and comfortable seating. The latest installment of their recurring comedy show Latin Laughs, which highlights some of the best and brightest Latin comics in Arizona and beyond, will be headlined by comic Rich Rivera, with guest appearances from rising local acts like Eric Bernal, Rose Verdugo, and Steena Salido.

Jinkx Monsoon at Stand Up Live
Hot off their victory earlier this summer on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” Jinkx Monsoon is taking a victory lap tour, hitting clubs around the country, including one in our backyard! Any Drag Race fan could tell you their skills as an impressionist, comedian, and live performer are undeniable, so this very special one night engagement at Stand Up Live is not to be missed.

Into the Unscrewed-iverse at Unscrewed Theater
Unscrewed comedy has existed in one form or another in the Phoenix area for over two decades, its current iteration as a non-profit improv comedy theater in Tucson is home to a slew of high quality comedy shows. Into the Unscrewed-iverse, their monthly celebration of all things nerdy, turns the theater into a mini comic-con, infusing their rapid-fire improv show with superhero and other pop cultural references, capped off with a cosplay parade. It’s like hanging out, riffing with all your nerdiest friends, except it’s a live comedy show!
9.29 – 10.1
Dan Mintz at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy
Dan Mintz’s finely crafted one liners are things of beauty, precise and hilarious. Though he’s most perhaps recognizable as the voice of Tina Belcher on Bob’s Burgers, he’s is also an accomplished standup comedian with a stellar resume: he’s performed on basically every late night talk show you can think of, has appeared on shows like Silicon Valley and The Goldbergs, and has written for Nathan for You and Veep. If you’ve watched basically any halfway decent TV comedy in the last decade, chances are, Dan’s been involved!
