Glendale Glitters lights up the town for the 25th time this holiday season, so join in on the annual fun.

One of the best traditions that helps to ring in the Holiday season in Arizona has to be Glendale Glitters, located in Historic downtown Glendale at 58th and Glendale Avenues. The 1.6 million LED light display is the largest free holiday light display in the state, with 16 whole blocks decorated with the various lights that make for magical nights with friends and family. While you can enjoy the lights every evening until January 12 of next year, there are special events that take place throughout the season that are worth checking out as well.

#FrayLife Tip: On “non-event” nights, the lights are still available to view from 5-11pm. There are horse-drawn carriages providing rides for purchase and you can dine at one of the many local restaurants in the area. Plus, many of the local shops are open during the display.

Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend

Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24

The Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend is the official kick-off of the event, where the Mayor of Glendale and Councilmembers light up the area for the first time. This year, Glendale Glitters is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The show begins at 5:30pm on Friday night, with the lighting beginning at 6pm. Saturday night festivities will take place from 5-11pm. Vendors will be on site selling food and other goods, and you can also enjoy the many local stores to indulge in holiday shopping. For this weekend, you can enjoy a free shuttle service from Glendale Community College over to the District. See here for more information on parking.

The Holiday Weekend is a great chance for you to enjoy entertainment, music, and vendors. This weekend is touted as one of the best few days to get your last-minute holiday shopping done as most of the nights don’t have vendors set up to purchase from.

The special event that everyone anticipates when it’s the end of the season is the Glendale Glitter and Glow block party, which runs from 4-10pm. The award-winning event draws in crowds from all over the Valley who want to see over 20 hot air balloons lighting up the evening as Glendale Glitters draws to a close. There will be musical performances, food and beverages for purchase, and of course, the glow from the balloons to enjoy. One of the highlights includes “mass glows,” where the balloon pilots light up the balloons all at once to create an eye-catching sight.
