10 Fun Things That Have Us Excited for Fall in Phx
Let’s be honest with ourselves, Phoenix is at its best in the fall. The weather is perfect (finally), there’s a ton of events happening and the holiday mayhem hasn’t fully kicked in yet. To get you even more excited for the upcoming season, we rounded up a list of the top things to look forward to this fall.
Cooler weather
Duh.
1. Food Festivals
Think Arizona Taco Festival, the Phoenix Pizza Festival, the Downtown Donut Festival and the BBQ, Bacon and Beer Festival.
2. Football Season
Whether you’re cheering on your college team or the Cardinals, there’s no shortage of football happening in this state. Catch us tailgating outside of Arizona State as soon as the weather allows.
3. Patio Dining
Sunset views, cool breezes and shorter wait times at your favorite restaurants. What’s not to love?
4. A collection of the world’s fastest automobiles
. . .And we’re not talking about Barrett Jackson. Phoenix Art Museum’s Legends of Speed exhibit opens in November with more than 20 legendary cars from a Maserati to a Ford.
5. Oktoberfest
There’s no shortage of German-themed beer celebrations, but you’ll catch us at Tempe’s Four Peaks Oktoberfest from October 11 to 13 riding the Ferris wheel and downing steins of Kilt Lifter.
6. The Arizona State Fair
It’s a tradition. Plus, who doesn’t want a fried Twinkie?
7. Outdoor Concerts
There’s nothing like live music, a cold alcoholic beverage and being able to sit in the grass without dying of heatstroke or pesky seasonal allergies. From Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers at Hayden Square to Florida Georgia Line at Ak-Chin Pavilion and Goldrush Music Festival at Rawhide, it’s about to be a great autumn.
8. Pumpkins and Chili
Schnepf’s Farms is bringing back its award-winning Pumpkin and Chili Party every October weekend for some wholesome, fall-themed family fun.
9. Hiking
Whether you’re more into Camelback or South Mountain, it’s finally cool enough to enjoy those breathtaking hikes after sunrise.
10. Dog’s Day in the Garden
Everything’s better with your dog, including the botanical garden. Bring your dog for the annual celebration on November 16 and enjoy hiking, family photos with your furry friend and pup-friendly vendors.
