6 Outdoor Date Spots to Help You Impress Your Special Someone This Fall
After a summer of record-breaking temperatures, us Phoenicians could all use some time outdoors to enjoy Arizona’s natural beauty and cooler temperatures — especially for your next date night to make it especially memorable. From first date ideas to special occasions, we’ve got you covered with ideas for your next romantic night out.
1. Papago Park’s Big Butte Loop Trail
We don’t recommend subjecting your date to a grueling hike up Camelback Mountain before vetting their athletic abilities, but this short, easy hike offers scenic views and plenty of opportunities to talk without gasping for air while struggling up a steep hill. Plus, while you’re there you can check out the iconic Hole in the Rock formation.
2. Desert Botanical Garden
Whether it’s your first date or a special occasion, the Desert Botanical garden is the perfect outdoor date idea. You can grab dinner at Gertrude’s then stroll through the scenic garden. Plus, there are different exhibits throughout the year to ensure you can always enjoy something new — coming up is the annual return of the Monarch butterflies and an art exhibit comprised of more than 1,000 animal sculptures made from recyclable plastic.
3. Golfland
Mini golf is the go-to outdoor date for a reason — it’s lighthearted, moderately competitive and takes the pressure off the conversation. Golfland’s award-winning King Arthur-themed attraction even has three 18-hole courses to choose from.
4. Phoenix Zoo
The zoo isn’t just for kids, because who doesn’t want to stroll through a jungle-themed oasis hoping to spot a giraffe or elephant? For the ultimate date night, check out the zoo’s Roars & Pours event for those 21+ providing live music, yard games, craft brews, wine and food, with admission at just $10.
5. Hot Air Balloon Ride
If you’re looking to really impress your date, a hot air balloon ride is one way to ensure they’ll never forget your special day. For under $200 a person, one of the Valley’s top-rated companies, Rainbow Ryders, will take you and your date on a group sunrise or sunset ride. For an ultra-exclusive private experience, expect to pay double. But hey, it’s worth that once in a lifetime view!
6. Arizona Goat Yoga
Believe it or not, we invented goat yoga here in humble Arizona, and if you’re looking to break the ice with a date, what better way to do so than by exchanging longing looks while balancing goats on your back? Classes take place at Welcome Home Gilbert Ranch and attract over a hundred adventurous yogis. For an extra special experience — check out one of the themed classes, which range from Hawaii to unicorn goats.
