Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phoenix 11/28 – 12/4
This week in the Valley, we’re coming to the end of November and jumping into December with just as much excitement: the temperatures just keep getting better. Plus, December means we are closer to Christmas! Get your calendar out and start planning things to do for the week – we picked out some of the best from all around.
Wednesday, November 28
– Can you tell the difference between inexpensive and pricey wines? Test your palate with a blind wine tasting taking place at Valley Bar – the theme is “Big Bold Reds.” Tastings are $15 a person and there are two times to choose from – 6pm and 7:30pm.
– Crescent Ballroom brings you a night full of stories as a part of The Moth’s “Phoenix StorySlam” series. The month’s theme is “beginnings,” and members of the community will read five-minute stories surrounding that theme. The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $10.
Thursday, November 29
– Don’t miss out on what is sure to be a great concert with R&B Soul singer Jorja Smith as a part of her Lost and Found tour. The show is at 8pm and tickets start at $25.
– Lace up your skates and head over to CitySkate outdoor ice rink in Phoenix for skate sessions from both 5-7:30pm and 8-11pm. General admission is $15.
Friday, November 30
– Skiing and Snowboarding enthusiasts will enjoy the Avalanche Sale – Arizona’s largest ski and snowboard sale and travel expo. Save up to 60% on new and used gear and register to win door prizes. The event takes place from 6-10pm at the Phoenix Convention Center and admission is free.
– Get your groove on with an Old School ‘90s R&B and Hip-Hop Dance Party over at the Van Buren. DJs will be spinning the classics for you to jam out to. Tickets are just $5, and doors open at 9pm.
Saturday, December 1
– Enjoy the 50th anniversary of the Tempe Festival of the Arts, where over 350 artists will be showcased in Downtown Tempe. Among the art, there will also be live music, street performers, food trucks, and beer and wine gardens. Admission is free, and the event runs from 10am-5:30pm.
– Park West is hosting a Sweets Throwdown, where food trucks will be going head to head to try and win the most votes for the best dessert. From fried Oreos to gourmet waffles, anybody with a sweet tooth will enjoy this event. Free to enter and park, and there’s no cost to vote. Takes place from 5-9pm.
Sunday, December 2
– As one of the top 25 musicals of all time, Singin’ In the Rain is in concert at the Orpheum Theatre for two times this Sunday – at 1pm and 6:30pm. Tickets start at $50.25.
– The Arizona Filmmaker Showcase is a monthly event where features and shorts from local filmmakers are screened. Enjoy five of these for just $9.95. Starts at 6pm.
Monday, December 3
– The Live 101.5 Jingle Bash is heading to Comerica Theatre, featuring performances from Camila Cabello, Dillon Francis, Lauv, Cheat Codes, and Bryce Vine. Tickets start at $38.50 for the 7pm show.
– The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Chandler is hoping to get you in the holiday spirit by showing “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” at 7:20pm. Tickets are $12.94 – and this theatre has a full menu for you to grab a meal from as well.
Tuesday, December 4
– Get your Tuesday started right with a morning yoga class over at The Churchill – which is $15 for both a class and a smoothie or acai bowl from Foxy Fruit. If you just want to do Yoga, the cost is $7. Starts at 9am.
