Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phoenix 11/7 – 11/13

 

 

November is one of the best months in the Valley for events – the holidays are coming up, the weather is nice, and there are plenty of things to check out and enjoy. We’ve put together a list that will have you enjoying everything from food to music to shopping and fitness.

Wednesday, November 7

– The MonOrchid is hosting a mixed media happy hour dedicated to artist appreciation form 5:30-7:30pm. The night will feature “Who’s Next,” which is an azCentral program that highlights dynamic young people who are shaping the Valley. There will also be news about programs scheduled for the upcoming year. Free to attend.

– Catch a New Faces of Comedy competition over at Stand Up Live for just $5. The special edition of the show is Turkey themed, where the winner competes for $100 and “the coveted turkey.” Audience votes. The show starts at 8pm.

Thursday, November 8

– Old Brick House Vintage Market is giving you a chance to get Christmas shopping done early with a “Deck the Halls” vintage market running from 10am-5pm. The market will feature holiday decorating and gift giving finds. There’s also a chance to win a $100 shopping spree if you’re in line by 10am Thursday. Free entry and parking.

– Mountain Shadows Resort is offering a free-flow yoga class with great views of Camelback Mountain starting at 6pm. After the one-hour class, there will be $5 specials on select wines. Reserve your spot here.

Friday, November 9

– Catch live competitive painting at the Art Battle Phoenix city finals – all artists are hoping to earn a spot at the National Championship taking place in LA. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. The audience votes on the favorite painting, and silent auctions take place for all of the work created. Tickets are $25, and the event starts at 7:30pm.

– Sahauro Ranch Park is hosting a Movies by Moonlight night, featuring a showing of Incredibles Two. The night also features a huge variety of food trucks, music, a veteran’s day celebration, and more. The free event starts at 5pm, and you can RSVP here.

Saturday, November 10

– Who doesn’t love a good old school style bar crawl? Combine this with pajamas, and you’re in for a great night. Meet us for the second annual Scottsdale Pajama Bar Crawl starting at 2pm. The tickets include five free drinks, additional drink specials along the way, and lots of fun.

– It’s the 10th annual Grand Avenue Festival – where historic grand avenue is transformed into an interactive walking festival showcasing art, local businesses, and much more. There will be music, food for sale, purchases, and much more! The free event is from 11-8pm (with some locations offering late night hours till 10pm). More info here.

Sunday, November 11

– Head over to Chandler for the Arizona Harvest Festival taking place from 9am-4pm. There will be over 100 merchants offering a wide selection of products for sale, from produce to home décor and much more. There will even be a beer garden! It’s a great way to enjoy the weather and get some shopping done.

– Writing and literature enthusiasts will enjoy First Draft Book Bar’s “Typewriter Harvest taking place from 12-3pm. There will be tons of retro typewriters available to try and test, and participants are encouraged to think of pieces themed around giving thanks. Phoenix Poet Laureate Rosemarie Dombrowski will also be typing poetry on demand for those who visit! Free to attend.

Monday, November 12

– Honor America’s heroes and join the crowd at the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade. This parade has been running since 1997 and is designed to recognize all veterans on a rotating basis. This year’s theme is “Out of the Trenches, a Century of Remembrance” focusing on World War One (1918-2018). Starts at 11am. Get more information here.

– Phosphorescent (singer-songwriter Matthew Houck) is performing at Crescent Ballroom starting at 8pm. The indie singer has received critical acclaim for his work. Tickets are $28.

Tuesday, November 13

– Enjoy seasonal dishes paired with yummy brews from Four Peaks Brewing Co. as a part of their “Autumn Beer Dinner.” $65 gets you four courses paired with a complimentary beer. You can get more information about the dishes and reserve a spot here.

– Valley Bar is hosting “Maintenance” in the Rose Room – a vinyl DJ collective that is hosted by those who identify as women, trans, or genderqueer. The night of free music begins at 9pm.
