Another week of September in the Valley brings a whole new week of events to check out. The weather may be up and down, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Take advantage of some awesome indoor and outdoor events around town this week.

Wednesday, September 19

– Consider yourself a plant lover? Head over to GenuWine in Phoenix to learn how to build a succulent terrarium! All of the planting supplies are provided for you, with drinks and desserts available for purchase. Tickets are $58 for the event that starts at 7 pm.

– Want to hear members of the community share a 6-8-minute personal stories addressing a shared theme? Catch a live storytelling event presented by Chatterbox. This week, the free show’s theme Is “Blind Date,” and it starts at 8 pm.

Thursday, September 20

– Put on your dancing shoes and head over to The Grand for a night of jazz and swing dancing. There’s a beginning swing lesson from 7-8pm, then jazz takes over from 8-11pm for you to get your dance on! The cost is $10 per person (or $5 with your student ID).

– OdySea Aquarium is hosting “NightLife,” a 21+ event with live music, drink specials, and a strolling dinner. Tickets are only $25.95 online or $29.95 at the door (excluding dinner), and $39.95 online or $44.95 at the door including dinner. The event starts at 6 pm.

Friday, September 21

– The Van Buren will be spinning classic Disco and Boogie jams for a night of Roller Disco. They’ll be bringing in a glow-in-the-dark roller rink, and costumes are encouraged. The event starts at 8 pm and features a midnight happy hour with DJs and drink specials. $10 advance tickets, $12 day of the show. Skating is an additional $3.

– Tattoo enthusiasts can head over to the Monarch Theater starting at 4:30 pm for the 9th annual “Screwd & Tattooed” tattoo, music, and arts festival that will feature tons of live music, street art, vendors, and tattoo booths. Tickets are $15.00 online (plus fees).

Saturday, September 22

– The Phoenix Center for the Arts is presenting the 5th annual Beta Dance Festival, showcasing the diverse Valley dance community. The show starts at 7 pm and tickets are $15 (or $10 for students and seniors).

– Celebrate the 2018 Moon Festival with a Food Truck Frenzy at the AZ International Marketplace in Mesa. Admission and parking are free. There will be raffles and giveaways with over 20 food trucks for you to browse through and buy from. Starts at 6 pm.

Sunday, September 23

– It’s trivia night at Crescent Ballroom starting at 5 pm. Participate for your chance to score some great prizes like show tickets, gift cards, and more! Deals on drinks and food. Free to attend!

– Directed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, “Imagine” is a film collage of colors and sounds. The movie has been frame-matched to the original negative and restored. Spend your Sunday taking in all of the imaginative thoughts and ideas they put together. There are two showings, one at 2:40 pm and 4:20 pm for $12.

Monday, September 24

– Get your day started right with a “Sunrise Salutation” class at Urban Wellness. The class is great to promote body awareness and give a sense of deep relaxation. Tickets are $10 for the class starting at 9:30 am.

– As a part of Arizona Restaurant Week, head over to Olive & Ivy in Scottsdale for a three-course meal featuring Mediterranean cuisine. For $44 a person, you can enjoy a glass of featured red or white wine, a starter, entrée, and dessert. The menu is available to view here.

Tuesday, September 25

– Electronic-based musician and producer John Glenn Kunkel (otherwise known as The New Division) is going to be performing at Valley Bar starting at 7:30 pm. He will be blending dance beats and dark atmosphere along with his iconic pop sound. Tickets between $12-15.
